14 August 2026 Day #14 in Madagascar Day #13 on the Africa Mercy Ships
Last Day in the OR. Today the Germans tied with South Africans 2:2. One kiwi (New Zealand) one American and one Australian. We had three second stage procedures. The last one was probably the most rewarding as the flap that was placed 10 days ago was revised and closed to finish the process.
Friday’s are funky scrub day and almost everyone participated (they have spares if you don’t have your own). I went with the cat theme. Hello kitty for the top and a wild cats scrub hat.

For team building we had a CPR competition. The anesthesia team (Tamara and myself) were a close second to the surgeons followed by the nurses.
We then had a large group go to dinner at a local restaurant, Little India. The food was really good.

Now, we are hanging out midship where groups are chatting, playing games and enjoying each other’s company.

It’s my last night on ship. We will say our final farewell/see you later at 4 PM.
Until tomorrow….
