Sunday August 2. First full day in Madagascar.
Slept in a little. Then went to the Crocodile Farm with one of the OR nurses. It was a gorgeous sunny day to just wander and see all the wildlife. As it’s winter, not as much color as I suspect there is in the summer.

Then we enjoyed an outdoor lunch at the hotel with some of our fellow crew members. After that we just relaxed and waited for the next leg of our journey.
At 5 PM the “Tana” coordinator rounded us up and we shuttled to the domestic airport for our 50 minute flight to Tamatave/Toamasina. After clearing customs and a short wait 21 of us boarded the plane. On arrival we were met by 3 crew members who loaded us up into vans for a short drive to our ship.

On arrival we received a brief orientation, room keys and had our pictures taken. As a physician, I have my own room with a shared bathroom.

Once unpacked, I headed to bed as we have early morning meetings to get ready for the week ahead.
