I survived my first 13 hour flight. Luckily I am able to sleep on planes. The last flight of the day was from Addis Ababa to Antananarivo, Madagascar. We arrived at 1:45 PM local time. From the time I got on the bus to here was 26 hours.

We were met at the airport by Mercy Ships crew members who helped with the visa process. Depending on your length of stay, you need different visas. So far everyone I have met has been very friendly. Many coming back, others like me, their first time.

We stay overnight here and will take a short plane ride to Tamatave. There will be 21 of us on that flight. The flight is later than originally planned so we won’t be on board until around 9 PM.
After a long day of travel, I was pleased to find out there is a spa at the hotel. Due to my regular nail salon being closed for renovations on Thursday, I never got my mani pedi and was way overdue. She was free at the spa so had a massage and a mani pedi. After paying, I looked at the conversion rate. I was shocked to find out I paid $87 for everything!
I also was surprised that it was dark out when I got done at the spa. Despite the warm temps, it is winter and Madagascar is fairly south in the southern hemisphere. Sunset is at 5:30!
Tomorrow will be a day of rest, maybe check out some local sites and then get ready for the final leg of my journey.
